Amazon Prime Video wanted to make a big pop-culture splash to promote the upcoming fourth season of its hit superhero satire The Boys. So they partnered with TIME on a bold idea where the magazine named the show’s antagonist, Homelander, “Superhero of the Year.”
TIME called on me to pen a profile of Homelander as part of the campaign, which featured quotes written by the show’s writers in the voice of the character. In addition to running on TIME’s website, the article also appeared in a print edition of TIME magazine as part of a promotional cover wrap. The innovative idea won a silver Clio Entertainment Award in the Television & Streaming category.
